Need Answers Please

Hello to everyone. I am looking for some answers.

Let me start out by giving some background details.

The person in my house (Amy) is a 28 yr old female. She was diagnosed with Epilepsy when she was 9 months old after a tumble down a flight of stairs.

From the age of 9mnths to 26 yrs old she lived with her Mother, Step-Father and brother. At the age of 27 her mother (my aunt) passed away. 1 month after we also lost our grandmother. 1 month after that it was decided from several members of my family that she shouldn't be living with her step-father no longer, let me tell you why. From as far back as I can remember he was never really nice to her, both him and her mother were alcoholics and we all suspected abuse but could never prove it.

Ok thats enough background, I'm sure ya'll get the picture.

 My questions are as follows............

1. Can a siezure be caused from nitemares?

2. Has anyone ever witnessed someone in a seizure that seems as if they regress in age?

I say regress because Amy says things while in a seizure that i vividly remember her saying as a child.

Amy cannot be controled while in these seizures. She wants to get up and walk around, she reaches for things that are not there. She says Momma over and over again. She screams, coughs, whistles, snaps her fingers and claps her hands, Are these typical?

3. Can a seizure be caused from thinking about things too much? Amy thinks about some of the littlest things way too much and over analyzes things.

If anyone here would be so kind to respond to my questions or have any insight as to how to deal with some these issues I would greatly appreciate it.

I just posted this on a different post but I'll post again. It is too important. Pay attention to people you know with epilepsy if you are concerned about their homelife. PLEASE STICK YOUR NOSE IN THEIR BUSINESS. YOU COULD SAVE THEIR LIFE. I live in the part of America the Federal Government just named the most uneducated place in Canada and the U.S.A. combined. Epileptics are treated horribly. The spousal abuse suffered by epileptics is astronomical. Some who don't drive go without groceries even though they have family. They end up hurt and dead. The police are no help. If you have a seizure publicly, you'll end up like me, in the drunk tank for 20 hours. No, I don't drink and YES I was wearing a medical alert necklace. We don't have any confidence in the police to begin with so people will suffer in silence. Watch your fellow epileptics, please. As the saying goes, "There but by the grace of God.......

HEY IT COULD BE YOU. FIND THE COURAGE TO HELP AND SO WHAT IF SOMETHING COULD HAPPEN TO YOU> IT'S NOT LIKE OUR HEADS WORK THAT GREAT ANYWAY.

There are women's shelter's that have some resources. Also, if someone is mentally handicap and you have absolutely no where else, your own doctor. Many faith based groups have free medical clinics. Tell the nurse or doctor your suspicions privately on the phone, they'll see you more quickly. If you have a reputable police department, try them. I have had to help someone myself. Glad I did too.

DO NOT STOP UNTIL YOU FIND THE PERSON HELP> IT MAY TAKE MORE THAN ONE TRY> SHE IS WORTH IT.

I doubt that the seizures she's having is from nightmares.  Sometimes seizure activity can often represent itself as nightmares.

In some people, seizures can occur if a person is under a lot of stress.  However, from the description she's having it sounds like a classic case of a complex partial seizure.   These peculiar acts of behavior is typical of a complex partial seizure.  You cannot control what she's doing.  You have to let the seizure run its course.  What you can do for her is to provide protection during this seizure so that she doesn't get injured, etc.  Is this young woman under the care of a neurologist? If these seizures occur frequently and if she is on medication, she may need to have an adjustment or change.

As for the abuse, is this woman competent for you to ask her about the abuse that you suspect?

Personally I haven't ever had a seizure set on by a nightmare, but most people don't remember everything before during and after a seizure so nobody really knows that answer. Her memory is probably setback to a younger age I didn't even know who I was for a month or so. Once I had a seizure and tried desperately to leave my house naked and walking, thank god my husband was there I never know what will happen next and I grunt and do things similar to Amy that you talked about. Seizures can positively be caused from worrying things too much, stress is one of the top causes of stress so if it were me or my loved one I'd say that be the top priority to try and keep her from stressing about things big or small. Oh and I really feel for Amy because other than the abuse and age she started having seizures I can't live alone work or drive.
