Epilepsy Ads Using Scare To Educate "It's Wrong"

Wed, 03/04/2009 - 09:48

Does anyone out there disagree with the Ads on tv about epilepsy? I am trying to find a job currently and if I were an employer or a coworker and heard this ad I would think twice before hiring a person with epilepsy or if I were that coworker it would scare the willy out of me.

It is using scare tactics to educate people about epilepsy, but people I speak to about this ad says they are more afraid of it than they were before. Stop this ad. "I had a son with epilepsy and he died." "A seisuze can happen anytime." Please more people have seizure and live than those that die.

I couldn't take swimming in highschool because no teacher would take responiability for me untill a teacher came around in my senior year and let me take swimming she had a family member with epilepsy. People with epilepsy live very successfull and good lives. Don't make it sound like we are going to die any time so beware!!.

When I started having Epilepsy I started having them in the late 60's.  I watched a really nice commercial that showed a beach scene of waves hitting a beach. It showed that the brain waves are similar some are strong waves and out of control and some are peaceful and pacifying.  At the end you saw a couple holding a child walking on a peaceful beach w/ the tide coming in and out.  It was a wonderful Ad and you wanted to contribute.  I do not remember to what group, I was young at that time.

That ad sounds nice. I think this ad I am speaking of is more of a public service announcement so let people know how serious a condition e is . Well we all or most have careers, before the market went sour I sold home  and auto insurance for Allstate. At one time I sold 30 policy a month and I worked 5 days a week. It may be serious but you can live unless you have s so often you can't function. And I feel and pray for those in that condition. But most people I know are very high functioning persons.
