Removed Epilepsy Jokes

Sun, 03/16/2008 - 10:04

Hi everyone,

While I appreciate good humor, making jokes about a person's health and well-being in my mind is not considered good humor, or even  humor at all.  Some people may find that it helps to make 'light' or laugh during tough times, but for others, it really hurts and feeds into the discrimination and stigma of epilepsy and seizures. Thus, I have taken administrative privileges to remove the thread on epilepsy jokes from this public site.

People who wish to share jokes about people with epilepsy, please do so on private sites or among yourselves in another way. Or better yet, create a thread that shares the positives about epilepsy!

The only reason i found this site was searching for epilepsy jokes on google and read them, i think its terrible that this thread has been removed, like seriously horrendous, if i couldnt laugh at myself and joke about my epilepsy i honestly dont no if i wud b  where i am 2day, i constantly take the mick out of myself and when i tlk 2 my mates bout me fitting we have a rite giggle and tlk bout drawing beards and moustaches on my face and i wudnt realise, thats wot makes it easy 2 tlk about it and i love making ppl feel comfatable tlking about and not only that i can educate them, it puts a positive spin on epilepsy and lets b honest there aren't many silver linings!! whoever has removed the thread what gives you the rite to dictate what everyone else wants to see, read and feel? x x x

Thank you!

It might not have bothered me so much if it were ME who had the Epilepsy (Maybe it would have), but when the "jokes" are aimed at my child, it definitely isn't funny.

Thanks again, Val
