If you haven't figured it out already. . . just click on My.epilepsy.com Community > Chat Room. At the bottom of the page you will see a button to go to the chatroom. A new window should open up and load the chat room up for you.

If this isn't what happens then let me know.

Hello to all of you who have posted to this Forum. Would you please either respond to this or email me at webmaster@epilepsytdp.org with exactly what is happening to you when you try to get into the chatroom and you can't? I need to know things like:

  • Is the new window for the chatroom opening up on your computer?
  • If it does open, what happens next? Do you get a "Loading" message and it just never loads the chatroom? Or does something else happen?
  • Are you using Internet Explorer when this happens? Or did this happen using Firefox or Safari or another browser?

I want to assure everyone that epilepsy.com isn't blocking anyone to the chatroom (unless you've been warned and told you were being blocked for violating usage policy). Even I had trouble with Java running on my computer 2 weeks ago using Internet Explorer. I'm a web person and not a computer hardware/software person and it was a frustrating 2+ hrs for me to get it to work on my computer with Internet Explorer. So I know how frustrating this can be.

If you let me know what is happening to you I will do my best to help you get things squared away so you can get back into the chatroom.

I can tell you that one of our other users who had this problem tried things that I suggested and ended up having someone look at his computer and he said that they had to clean a LOT of things off his computer before they could get it to work. This would indicate that there are other programs that many of us probably run on our computers that might be interfering with the programming code that runs the chatroom.

If you are having the problem with Internet Explorer and just don't want to spend a lot of time troubleshooting, a quicker workaround for you might be to download Firefox at http://www.firefox.com and trying using that to get into the chatroom.

Again, please let me know if you are having problems so that we can try to help. If this issue grows more, then I will be on the lookout for a new way for us to run the chatroom that will hopefully not pose as many problems for users.

Thanks!
