Magnesium Deficiency

Sun, 03/13/2005 - 15:35

Have any of you tried magnesium supplements and found them to be helpful? I have been doing some research and come across a theory that many people with epilepsy are magnesium-deficient. I realized that I have not had a seizure for 9 months, and I have been taking Rolaids for the past year. I have been taking them for the calcium content, but they also contain magnesium. Any thought on this?

Dear Angie,I cannot overstate

Dear Angie,I cannot overstate the importance of magnesium intake enough. The benefits go far beyond dealing with epilepsy seizures. Being magnesium deficient can and will lower your general quality of life and well-being. This is a cold, hard medical fact and there can be no questioning it.Assuming a patient does not have an adequate amount of magnesium in their life, they can expect to have much less restorative sleep, more tension in their muscles as well as become prone to neurological conditions like depression and anxiety. In cases where the patient cannot reach the required magnesium intake levels for optimum health, supplementation is encouraged. But supplements are merely that. Supplements. Your first step on improving your health should always be to change your dietary and lifestyle choices by introducing relevant foods and habits. Here are a few articles which mention high magnesium content foods, along with their benefits:http://ohealthyeah.com/magnesium-rich-foods-benefits/https://draxe.com/magnesium-deficient-top-10-magnesium-rich-foods-must-eating/http://www.health.com/health/gallery/0,,20914173,00.html
