Thu, 07/14/2005 - 16:43
Hi, Does anyone know what doses of Vitamin B6 and Calcium can be given to a 7 year old? I thought i would give it a try for him, He has polymorphic refractory epilepsy and since he has started on Keppra he has got worse. And he is like a zombie, really not with us at all. Is there any other vitamins and minerals that work? any suggestions welcome. bless you all. susan

It may be possible to use natural mood support along side prescribed medicines to improve is energy. But check with a doctor first of course. Energy drinks are also an option, although I have no idea how effective they could be, but anything is worth a try in these situations.

If your son is having more seizures and worse side effects he should switch meds. Side effects are worst when just starting a new med, and sometimes get a little better, but don't let it go to long if nothing good is happening. There are other meds out there to try. No one should be like a zombie. He probably feels wretched. Avoid caffeine, it can make things worse.

I would speak to a doctor about dosage first and then consider researching for the best and local health and nutrition stores. I have found there are many stores that are simply overpriced and lack the product quality to back up their prices compared to others selling better brands at affordable prices.
