Breakthrough Seizures

Wed, 12/15/2010 - 21:18
I had my first seizure in 2008 and the doctors preformed all the test such as EKG, EEG, MRI and Cat scans and everything came back normal so they put me on Keppra XR for 2 years and all was fine untill June of this year i had forgotten to take my medicine for a few days and i had a seizure but i was fine and didnt think anything of it and kept on my regular schedule. Then this Sunday i was in bed around noon when i heard the plow guy plowing are driveway and i had to move my truck so i jumped out of bed ran down stairs and moved my truck out to the street and my dads car, when i got out of the car i started spinning and had another seizure. After i thought about it for a while the last time i took my medicine was thursday morning, so i went 3 days without medicine. I went to the doctor monday and they preformed an EEG and it came back abnormal in the area above my left ear, but thats also the same area where i hit my head on the ground when i fell and i have a big bump there. So my doctor is uping my medicine from 2 a day to 3 a day. What do you guys think? is my medicine working and im only have seizures when i forget?

thank you all for your comments I had blood taken today to test the amount of medicine in my blood so they could determine if they need to switch my medicine. My head still has a little bump and is sensitive in that area so im still a little worried about that but it still stumps me that my EEG comes back abnormal in the exact spot that i landed on my head, i should also add that i was bleeding out of my nose when my parents found me so they suspect a concussion but the ambulance didnt do anything about it. They had an ambulatory EEG schedule for today but they cancelled it after they found out that my EEG came back abnormal. Im a little concerned about my seizures as im looking down the road, im will be off on my own in college next year and who knows after that. I am beginning to wonder whats going to happen in say 10 years? Will my seizures ever be gone? i was told by a few people that i could be experiencing seizures because i grew so fast in a short time. I am currently 6'1" and weigh about 190 pounds and just a few years ago i was 5'9" 220 pounds. Its great to hear all your story's and advice, now i know that im not the only person with the same issues. Thanks again and have a Merry Christmas!
