Meunstral Cycle Seizures
Mon, 12/29/2014 - 15:39In the past year, I have been in the E.R. 7 times and most of my seizures have happened during my period.(I have found the term "catamenial seizures" is this happens. Does anyone know if that is right?) My parents are suggesting that I get a shot of Depo-Provera to control the hormone activity that may be increasing my seizures. Has anyone tried that? If so, has it helped?

Yes I have seizures around my period also(1 two days before and after).I haven't tried birth control pills, but i agree with Amy Jo; My experiance withneurologsts is they're mostly over 40 year old males and either tel me I'm wrong or they don't know anything about catamenial eilepsy. i DID RESEARCH AND GAVE IT TO MY DOC. Now female nurses and General Practioners seem to understand (maybe older med school grads either didnt have to learn about the reproductive system (other than OBGYNS). SO HAVE A FEMALE DOC OF YOURS TALK TO YOUR nEUROLOGST IF NECEASSARY talk to a female doctor -Neuro if their is one near by. DONT give up!!!
