"medically intractable"....um, ok.....

Sun, 02/28/2016 - 17:32
Hello everyone...I'm a 48yo who is very tired of being tired. Has anyone else ever felt like that? I have had a few grand mal seizures in the past--most notably the first one I ever had in a college classroom when I was 20--but I primarily suffer from complex partials. I have taken a bunch of different kinds of meds to control both, and right now I am currently taking trileptal, topomax, even 100mg of Zoloft to deal with my "depression" (probably due to the fact that nothing else I have ever taken has controlled my sz's 100%, hence the term my neuro used to describe me: I am medically intractable!) Couple this data with the fact that I may be going through perimenopause/menopause, and it's a recipe for a date with a hospital bed. I have classically not done well on any type of "stimulant" (Zonegran, Keppra, etc) they tend to increase the seizure activity. What I am looking for is suggestions on a medication that I could take that won't make me feel like a human slug 24/7. I eat pretty decent--I don't do fast food, I like my cookies here and there, but other than that, I am not a junk food junkie. I would like to increase my exercise, but by the time I get home from work, all I want to do is do a face plant on my bed! My husband is NOT exactly thrilled, but he loves me and understands. I plan on getting a second opinion on med changes/choices from a new neuro that I have an appt. with at the end of March. Any help/suggestions/similar stories are welcome! Is anyone else in the same boat???
