Hi completely new to all of this not even sure if any one will see my question, my son is 16 in July and was diagnosed with epilepsy in April, hes currently taking tegretol, 500mg day to be increased to 800mg in the next two weeks, at the minute these are making him very sleepy, hes always asleep by 430pm I wake him for his 8pm dose and hes straight back over until 7am when hes up for school, I am very concerned as he is sitting his GCSE exams at the minute and is finding no time to revise never mind stay awake during the exam, iv seen his consultant yesterday and he told me that his body will get used to the meds, also he seems to be gaining weight I am not sure if this is because he sleeps most of the time or if its a side effect, any advice on anything I have stated would be very much appreciated thanks in advance x
