I would like to talk to people who have also had surgery

Tue, 11/01/2011 - 08:11

Hi everyone,

I had left temporal surgery 3 years ago when I was 24, and just wondered if anyone else has got depresssed since having the surgery, and self conscious about the scar?.

I've never met anyone who has had epilepsy surgery, and would love to hear anyones story, and how they've felt since having the surgery, I would feel it would really help just to hear how you've coped.

:-) x

Had a left temporal lobectomy, which was unsuccessful in reduceing seizure frequency or use of medicines. It did cause verbal/memory loss. No problem with the scar, so far; probably because mine in under my hair. Maybe I'll get to see something/it as my hair falls out/off. I quess I've thought of it because of last name.

I had failed brain surgeyr in 2007. I was supposed to have grid placement to locate the exact point. When they put the grids on I had a venus infarc(stroke) lost all movement on left side. Got it back in a couple weeks. I have a huge scar, same as yours probably. I also had a VNS put in. People can see that scar on my neck. I've only seen the one on my head once. I feel it every day though, it actually goes numb sometimes. I'm actually gonna have a different type of surgery and they will remove that part of the brain. New Scar I guess. It's our battle scars against one of the hardest diseases. Stay Strong!
