Does VNS affect your sleep?
Sun, 08/10/2014 - 08:09I am wondering if this device, and the feeling of it (going off and on) is annoying so much that it affects your sleep and relaxation? I understand the voice problem, and that sounds annoying, but manageable. I know that I have an ongoing problem falling asleep with even slight annoyances...and waking up during the night, and taking forever to fall asleep again. I am considering a VNS either instead of surgery, and if WADA shows problems with that. Doctor even thinks the brain implant (name?) the first and better of either VNS and implant....I need to know plus and minus of each. Thanks!
I've had my VNS for a year

I've had my VNS for a year and a half. Apparently I have a very strange snore when I sleep, and sometimes wake myself up because of it. It started getting worse as they fiddled with the settings; it didn't start being obvious till about six or so months ago. I honestly don't know if it is affecting the quality of my life and I have no idea how to help reduce or eliminate it. I see the epileptologist in a couple days so I'll ask him. I am not a candidate for other surgery as I have generalized seizures, so I have no opinions as to their pros and cons.
