Seizures in my sleep?

Sun, 09/14/2014 - 21:46

Hi, I'm hoping maybe I can get some advice about seizures as I haven't actually been diagnosed with epilepsy or anything to do with seizures, I just feel like I'm having them in my sleep.

So, I've just been woken up because I had I dream that I was seizing and this is the second time it has happened. I could describe to you exactly what was happening/the way I was moving etc. it felt so real, I was even trying to call out my boyfriends name as he is asleep next to me. The weird thing was, I didn't wake straight up after this "episode" as my mum was next to me comforting me in my dream (she wasn't there when I woke up).

The other weird thing is I had this "episode" in the same postion I was asleep in which makes me think I was seizing It's really hard to describe though as I recall sitting up in my dream.

When I woke up I asked my boyfriend if I had been twitching excessively and the answer was no. However he had been in a deep sleep beforehand. It makes me wonder though if I was actually seizing whether it would've woken him up.

I have never experienced anything like this whilst awake although I do twitch during the night and sometimes my legs start to go as I'm settling down to go to sleep or just relaxing in the evening.

I've woken up feeling relatively fine, head feels a bit muddy. I am unable to get back to sleep though as I am afraid of this happening again haha! As I said this is the second time this has happened, the first I was on my own and can still remember it vividly even though it was a few months ago.

Hope somebody can give me some advice about this, whether it's worth seeing a doctor or whether I'm just having strange dreams!

Thanks! H :)
