Possible Simple Partial Seizures

Wed, 10/22/2014 - 06:24

I had a series of 7 Grand Mal Seizures almost 20 years ago and have several family members who have different types of seizures. I also get severe visual migrains where i literally go blind for anywhere from a few minutes to a few hours, partial and full blindness depending on the severity of the migraine. Several weeks ago i had one of my usual migraines and suddenly it went away and was replaced with nausea, woozy dizzy feelings and an inability to speak to anyone. It lasted a minute or so then i was just feeling off and a bit freaked out. Over the last 2 weeks these have happened more and more and with more symptoms each time until now i'm having 2-8 a day or more and they now have almost every single sypmtom listed for a Simple Partial Seizure.

I was in the ER it was so bad and the migraine pain afterwards was so awful that they actually medicated me for it. The ER doc told me he thinks i'm having these seizures MIXED with my migraines and that that wouldn't be a surprise since they now think migraines actually ARE seizures.  He gave me the number for the local Neuro office and told me to call them right away, i now have an appointment but they're so booked it's not for another month unless they get a cancellation. I don't think i've ever hoped a place had a cancellation as much as i am right now.

Needless to say i'm pretty freaked out by this and looking for advice on how i might be able to get these episodes to calm down a bit at least until i can get to the doc and get this looked into and hopefully treated. Luckily i have an awesome boss and instead of firing me she's fully in support and told me to just sit and relax anytime it happens at work and not worry about any trouble for it *i officially love her now LOL*

Please, just please someone tell me there's something i can do to make these episodes not so frequent. I've already stopped drinking coffee, stopped playing video games and i'm not even looking at the tv while the shows or movies are on for my family. It's so bad right now that i'm being set off just by hearing certain words that i then forget as soon as the episode is over. So far this entire experience is just downright terrifying.
