Hello everyone, and thankyou for taking the time to read my story. About a week ago my 6 year old daughter started having staring spells for about 5 sec at a time, shes been doing this about 6 times a day, she has no idea that shes doing it and wont respond to me talking to her when this happens. I cant get into see a doctor until next week and im worried sick, today I googled "children staring" and all this information came up on epilepsy. Does anyone else have children with these syptoms?

If you are really worried I'd bring her to the ER. Because the only symptom is staring and we can't see her, then it's just a shot in the dark.

I agree, I wouldn't wait. My son has a different type of seizure than your daughter, but we are glad we received imediate attention. What we thought was no big deal turned into a very big deal. But if you get her looked at you'll feel so much better either way. Just go with your mother's instinct, we have it for a reason...... good luck, Michelle:)

Hi, my daugher has just been diagnosed. Some kids do stare into space but you are obviously concerned. The neurologist we saw was more concerned with my daughter closing her eyes and holding them shut for a couple of seconds. I would definitely see a neurologist with her to put your own mind at rest. He will be able to advise you on whether you need to have her tested and it will do no harm discussing your concerns.
