New here with my daughter

Thu, 11/02/2006 - 15:57
My daughter had a tonic clonic (grand mal) seizure September 29th. She is now medicated on phenobarbitol. She is 18 months old and is still having partial seizures through the meds. The neurologist wants to keep her on the pheno for at least 6 more months and then see where to go from there. Anyone have similar experiences? Cassandra

Hi Cassandra, Welcome to the site! Myself, I have not had a similar experience, but my daughter who is almost 4 now has been diagnosed with E. So I know it is heartbreaking (as a mother) to see your child go through something scary like that for the first time. We are still trying to find a medication that will work for my daughter (we're on #2 with no success). But it sounds like you're off to a good start. Email me if you need someone to chat to.

Welcome to the site, I have been here 2 weeks and loving it. I have made so many friends already and have learned so much. My son is 3 and was doing fine on his meds then all of a sudden they quit working. Now we are trying the 3rd med and he is still having sz. I think a lot of it is a guessing game for the doctors and I hate that. There are a lot of people on here that have kids. I think you will really like the site and I hope you find the magic med and dosage for your baby. Welcome again!
