New and Scared....

Just newly diagnosed with TLE and taking Topamax 50mg 2X a day. I only have partial seizures but the Topamaxs has slowed them down. Instead the Topamax has made me have around 75-100 Aura's a day and im in a constant state of anxiousness and I'm always scared. I'm only 20 years old and I've been healthy my whole life up until two month ago. I can't get in touch with my doctor till my next appt which is 3 weeks away so I just want someone to talk to. Please help. Thanks in advance.

I remember very well the first onset of seizures, doctors, tests and diagnosis. It's like a whirlwind I was caught up in by mistake and ended up only confused and feeling very much alone. ccruse has given you the best advice in my opinion. Learning as much as you can about your condition will help you be less fearful. At least it did with me. E.com has alot of good information on epilepsy and seizures. Here are a few that may help:

I understand the anxiouxness!!!! Being scared is a natural reaction. It is difficult, especially if you don't have friends or family that have epilepsy. You have found a good place though. There is a lot of information here and so many people who do understand exactly what you are going through. We are all here for each other!! I think one of the best things you can do is learn as much as you can, then ask questions about things you don't understand. And if you aren't getting answers from your doctor, find one who will give you answers and work with you. Learning as much as I could really helped me to be less fearful. I wish you the best of luck!!!!
