My seizures and new to Epilepsy.com

Hey everyone, I would like to share a little story relating to the knowledge of my seizures. I think it all started when I was 5. A while back my mamaw told me that at that time one day I was watching a cartoon or something and she saw me slump over like I had fallen asleep. Well when she tried to wake me up she saw that my eyes were rolled in the back of my head. I don't know of any other ones I may have had (hopefully none). But for a while my dad and grandmother talked to neurologist after neurologist and finally when I was 8 I had an appointment for an MRI scan and it turns out that I was diagnosed with Dandy Walker Syndrome. I've been taking meds such as Lamictal. Since then I had nothing to worry about. I've had to meet with my neurologist once every year (i'm 22). After I had been doing so well for s long time we thought we would try to wean me off the meds but apparently that failed sometime after my junior year of high school during the summer. One day my mamaw and one of her friends and I were eating out at a restaurant and right then and there I experienced for myself the horror of a seizure while I was conscious for a short amount of time. While we were eating I started feeling like I was going to pass out (I also felt like I was dying for some reason) I told my grandmother and I started running for the door; her friend grabbed me and tried as I blacked out and made it to the door and the stairs outside. I pushed him aside and fell down the stairs. My mamaw called 911 and I went to the hospital in the ambulance. I woke up in it and her friend was there watching me with some other Emts and he said I had one I said Damn! But when I noticed I was bandaged down and had a neck brace I started to panic and they had to sedate me. After I got out of the H a few hours later I was put back on my medication and i've been doing fine ever since but I seem to have been able to be aware of more coming on and i've been able to hold them off with no headache or anything. But lately i've been hanging out with a friend every now and then and every now and then when i'm asleep with him at night (don't judge me, there's nowhere else to sleep) he'll wake up and hear me talking about stuff that makes absolutely no sense or he'll see me convulsing, like me being sprawled out and having irregular body movements. That happened to me last night but right now i'm feeling fine. I don't know where these nocturnal seizures are coming from but they are really starting to scare me just from the thought. There's my story. If anyone has any advice or questions just ask me.

WelcomeIn order to get you back to doing so well or even better.Contact your neurologist and take your friend with you. And No I didn't judge since I have been there and done that before. You and your friend need to tell your neurologist about your night seizures. By doing that your neurologist might want to raise your dosage or even change your meds to one that has fewer side effects. But you at least need to get  your neurologist aware of them.I hope this helps and you get the assistance you needJoe
