A lot of seizures over 48 hours and then no more

Fri, 04/01/2016 - 06:17
Hi guys, just looking for some advice/opinions so I know what to expect.... Over 48 hours I had around 10 tonic clonic seizures (confirmed through a video at the emergency room). These were my first ever seizures and I don't remember any of it at all. I went to hospital but they couldn't find anything through any tests, including a CT scan. After this 48 hour period was over, I now haven't had any seizures for 2 days. Is this usual for epilepsy? I have a follow up appointment soon and I'm really concerned about what they are going to say! Basically what I'm asking is...does it seem like epilepsy could be the cause if I had a massive amount of seizures very quickly but then they have seemed to have subsided completely? Thank you

The tests done in the

The tests done in the hospital ER are general tests the scan would be of areas they think might be giving you a problem. They generally run blood tests. The test needed to find more out would be an EEG, brain wave test showing the electrical output coming from your brain,  No it is not unusual for a person to have a seizure one day and not have another one for days. weeks or even years. I had a rand mal seizure back in 1963. I haven't had another since then except for the status epilepticus I had back in 1970 That doesn't mean I didn't have other seizures because I had been abd were having them .My focal Motor seizures always started with my right hand feeling weird, If it started rising up O know the focal seizure generalized and that it had and the seizure could be convulsive or stop before the generalizing for completely thru mu brain.the follow up should be with a neurologist which can give you more answers. for your safety and those around you then please answer his questions as best you can.I hope this helps and you get your seizures under controlJoe
