Is it some kind of Seizure !!!!!!

Wed, 04/01/2015 - 12:09

Hi,

We have a 6 month old boy who had his first seizure  when he was 3 months old  , we started him on phenobarbitol .Phenobarbitol did control his seizures ( only other episode he had was when he got his 4 month shots) . From past one month he was suffering with cold  and atleast once in a day for  couple of minutes his breath gets very heavy and during that timeframe he actively tracks everyone with his eyes , smiles and also looks at his toys but does not move much or rather is not his usual  , the entire episode ends with a cough or sneeze . Our pediatrician thinks it to be a seizure and asks us to take a neurologist appointment , did anyone have such issue . I have recorded his episodes but our neurologist  does not  have an option to view vidoes .Any help would be great !!!!

You might find more out by reading types of seizures. If he looks like he is day dreaming then they could be seizures. Absence seizures and focal seizures look like the person is day dreaming. I know I had been written up for day dreaming in class when in reality those day dreams were focal seizures. Also understand that when someone gets sick their medication levels can go wacky at times. At times I have more simple partial seizures when I get a cold or the flu.I hope this helpsJoe
