I'll introduce myself.

My name is Charity Tanner and I'm 27 years old. I live in Oklahoma. I was diagnosis with grand mal seizures at the age of 12 (exactly the same time that I started puberty). They first said that I developed the seizures because of lack of sleep. So, as a teenager, I not only was on a different medication every two months but I was sleeping about 12 hours a day and still having them every other day. As an adult, since they said that I didn't have epilepsy, I'm not considered disabled so I have to pay for my own medical bills now and can't afford to, so I haven't seen a doctor in over 10 years or been on medication for my seizures. But I have to say that I personally think that the doctors I had as a teenager are wrong. If I slept 12 hours a day and still having seizures, then it shouldn't be from lack of sleep. I told the doctors this and they told me I was crazy and didn't know what I was talking about because I was a kid. Well, now I'm in school for Medical Office Assissant and it turns out that I did know what I was talking about even though I was a kid. I have been though alot with my seizures. I've lost friends, boyfriends, respest from my family, jobs, and I've deal with depression all the time. I can't drive myself anywhere, can't be left alone with my own children since I've had one when I was. I don't have them but once or twice a month now and that is when I'm on my period or days within starting. To tell you the truth I think that i have a hormonal inbalance or something and that's the cause of my seizures. But since I can't see a doctor at this time I can't have that theory checked out.

I don't have much time to chat tonight, but feel free to email me if you want to chat. You can click my username and then click 'contact' to email me. (I think that's how it works).

Hi Charity, When I first started having seizures the doctor asked me if it was at the same time I had my period, since it wasn't she didn't go into it. Ask your doctor about it and if they don't know anything, go to one that does. There was a reason my doctor asked me if my seizures were at the same time as my period. Hope it helps
