Epilepsy is serious !

Hi my partner had his first siezure last year. His are very violent; whole body shakes violently whilst foaming from the mouth being sick urinating and making awefull noises. I was so scared the first time i saw him. He had 2 this day. He was put on 750mg keppra twice a day to atop the seizures and shaking at night. A year late he came off his tablets as his quality of life was so bad. Keppra made him sleep 24/7 and always grumpy. The same week a year later i came home from work to find him very confused bust lip black eye bruises and lump on his head. I called 999 when they got here he then had 3 further absent siezures slight shakes but at 1 point awake then he was absent. His heart rate jumped to 120 then to 40. Ct scan showee nothing but it is taking him along time to recovee this time 2 daya later he is very confused still and thus has scares him to how serious epilepsy really is. He gets hot sweats all the time where he is full blown dripping and heating up in the day and night. Does anyone else get this? Also has anyone had 2 diffwrent types of seizures? Does anyone have a epilepsy minitor or watch? Do they work? Thanks guys x

CTs are good to see if there

CTs are good to see if there's bleeding but with focal epilepsy (which could explain heart rate changes and different seizures) even MRIs (imaging they often use in epilepsy diagnosis) don't always see anything. did anyone set up an EEG?it doesn't sound like he has a proper doc treating him, they would have done testing (beyond emergency department) to see about his needs and would have likely switched him to a different medication instead of just stopping. he needs to see a neurologist who works with seizure patients. the emergency department is not where one gets long term treatment for epilepsy. you can't know if the next seizure is worse but there is an expectation that repeated seizures cause damage (probably true for some epilepsies but maybe not all) and people with untreated seizures that have tonic clonics have an increased risk of sudep (sudden unexplained death in epilepsy).

Hi yes after his first

Hi yes after his first seizure he had an eeg which showed nothing and had apptns with the neurologist. But they then put a year for the next appt. He has now had these seizures the other day so i have called the neurologist back but no appointment available till the end of august. We are going on holiday soon and i really want to see the neurologist before we go.  As soon as they dont show anything on tests they stop and just tell us that they dont know what is causing the seizures. By any chance have you or anyone used the epilepsy monitors; watches wrist bands or dog ect?

our child has focal seizures

our child has focal seizures and generalized seizures that don't cause shaking. and the myoclonics are not repeated shaking. watches are useless for us.
