Does more than one seizure automatically mean epilepsy?

Thu, 09/10/2015 - 12:21

I'm in my late 20s, male, 5'10, and about 180 lbs. I had my first seizure 3 years ago for no apparent reason and my EEG didn't show any abnormalities, so I was cleared to drive and such. I had my second and third seizures this past weekend, a few hours apart, after a night of drinking and not much sleep. I strongly believe that the alcohol and sleep deprivation caused my recent episodes, but I'm terrified that having a second seizure in and of itself automatically means I'm epileptic. I'm seeing the neurologist next week to find out. Can certain things, like lack of sleep and alcohol, cause seizures in anyone, whether or not they have epilepsy? This is all very scary to me and I am very scared of losing my ability to drive, play video games, and live an independent life over this.
