Doctors????

Mon, 04/13/2015 - 06:42

Hi everyone,

I've noticed several people on this website must go through several physicians/neurologists in order to get diagnosed. It is not easy when the doctors aren't sure what to do with your symptoms. With that said, I had two emergency room visits in the past 3 weeks due to seizure type activity. The last ER visit was Saturday; my daughter (25 years old) witnessed the seizure and I was aware she was speaking to me and that my body was shaking. The physician at the ER stated that this was not a seizure due to the fact that I am aware of what's going on during the episode. He stated that anyone who has seizures cannot respond during a seizure. I know this is not so with all seizures, yes their are those that cannot remember what occured during the episode and also those who cannot respond. I felt the ER visit was a waste of time...he diagnosed me with Migraine headaches. My aura is a headache in the back of my head alerting me that a seizure is on its way. It's so frustrating when physicians treat you as if your just complaining about a headache. He gave me Reglan for the headache.

most doctors i th ER do not kow everything they need to know about the different types of seizures. Nor do they know all the symptoms. Each persons seizure is different to other peoples seizure even if it has the same name. daughter (25 years old) witnessed the seizure and I was aware she was speaking to me and that my body was shaking  He stated that anyone who has seizures cannot respond during a seizure  people on this website must go through several physicians/neurologists in order to get diagnosed  I've noticed several people on this website must go through several physicians/neurologists in order to get diagnosed... All it takes to diagnose epilepsy is 2 seizures. That diagnosis can come from any doctor. The doctor I went to who fixed my cuts and brusies diagnosed me with epilepsy. The neurologists are doctors that can find more with tests. So the neurologists are not trying to diagnose epilepsy. They are trying to find the CAUSE. With a lot of people a cause can not be found. The neurologists also know more medications and procedures that can control a persons seizures. They also know the different types of seizures and the types of epilepsy. If this has happened to you 2 times then you do need to get your PCP or GP to refer you to a neurologst that sepcializes in epilepsy so he can look ae the tests that were run in the ER and listen tio you and if your daughter is able to go to your visit she can have information he can use. That neuro my prescribe medications which can stop the seizures. I hope this helps and you get the assistance you need Joe
