Could these be seizures???

Thu, 03/30/2006 - 23:25
Hi, I actually joined this site becuase my 21 month old son has recently been diagnosed with epilepsy. Through my research, I have discovered that perhaps I might actually be having seizures as well. I am hoping that some of you would read this long history and tell me what you think. I feel like I am going crazy and a bit of a hypocondriac. I do not want to mention this to anyone becuase I feel like I may be a little crazy. But strange "things" have happened to me since I can remember, and reading some of the forums and blogs from people here and now knowing about the various types of seizures, I am truely wondering if these strange "things" are actually partial seizures. Ever since I can remember (I am 28) I have times where I begin to feel very "removed" as if I am inside my body. I am still aware of what is happening, but it seems like it's in a "distance." I get little sparkles of light in my eyes and voices are very faint. I get a sense of de ja vu and just feel so inside myself. I can hear people talking to me and I understand them, I don't get confused, but I really can't talk to them. My daughter goes crazy when this happens! I feel like I am daydreaming, and I realize it but can't pull myself out of it. Then all of a sudden it goes away. Sometimes I feel like I am going to pass out (really light headed) and get a strange metal taste in my mouth. Sometimes these tastes and daydreaming things go together. In addition to these feelings, I have periods of irregular and fast (120) heartbeats. I have seen the cardiologist several times, but my heart is fine. I have also seen a neuro because of some "shakes" that occur on and off on the right side of my body. These things can all be unrelated, and I would never have even thought that I possibly would have considered any of these things seizures until lately. Please share your advise! Thanks!

Hi, I am fairly new myself and I also had strange experiences that I didn't really understand for about 1 1/2 yrs. They were similar in that I felt like a deja vous type situation and I couldn't talk during them and at times felt a little dizzy and daydreamy(really difficult to put into words). I thought I was understanding what people around me were saying until I tried to write it down during one of my "episodes." It was not anything I recognized a few moments later. In fact it made no sense at all and really frightened me. I did have a Grand Mal seizure and the neuro did various tests and diagnosed me with Partial Complex seizures. I am on medication and the intensity and frequency are less. I would definately pursue the possibility with your neuro. Good luck to you and your son. Rita

I AGREE WITH EVERYONE HERE TO GO TO THE NEUROLOGIST AND SEE WHAT HE HAVE TO SAY. I BEEN HAVING SEIZURE SINCE 2004 AND I'M JUST GETTING PUT ON MEDS THIS YRS. WELL IN 2004 THAT DOCTOR AT THAT TIME DIDN'T DO NOTHING BECAUSE MY EEG CAME BACK NORMAL. WELL I GOT A NEW DOCTOR AND I BEEN HAVING HIM SINCE 2005 AND HE WAS VERY GOOD AT DIAGNOSIS ME AND SENDING ME TO A NERUOLOGIST. SO PLEASE GET YOUR SELF CHECK OUT.
