Could this deja vu be a part of epilepsy?

Tue, 08/16/2016 - 12:58
I started hearing voices about a year ago. I've been to several different doctors and had an MRI and EEG test done. Both of them came back normal. I'm also seeing a psychiatrist who says she is not ready to put a diagnosis on the voices. The strangest part is the deja vu. Most of the time, the voices are very muffled, but I can make out certain words or phrases. Then, later in the day I will hear someone say those things or be reading or watching something that has those phrases. I have deja vu at least once a day or several times a day to where I know that I've heard what's happening before. I've also had flashes of light in my vision and some dizziness, but those don't happen as often. The deja vu happens every day and it comes from the muffled voices. This is the strangest thing that's ever happened to me. It's as if I'm hearing things that haven't happened to me yet, but when they happen it's like I knew that it was coming. What I don't understand is why the MRI and EEG came back normal. Have any of you had similar experiences or had tests run to only find out later that you had temporal lobe epilepsy? I'm just really looking to find some answers as to what has been happening to me. Thanks.

OK you've been to several different doctors... Are any of them neurologists that specialize in epilepsy?? If not then that is who you need to see...The tests you had done are the main tests done to find out about epilepsy. However your came back normal. Fine it means your brain looks like it is like everybody elses. Which is good since you really don't want them to find a tumor on it or anything else. Yes things on your brain can cause issues,As for the EEG coming back normal... I had 20-25 different EEG's that came back normal. I then had one in which I fell asleep in which came back with abnormalities. Yup things the neurologists are looking for in teh EEG. That EEG showed where in my brain those came from. The neurologists tehn went and looked closer at the MRI and yup they found something. Those abnormalities came from my lower left lobes of my brain and that area has scared brain tissue..I was not having auras. I was having  petite nal and focal seizures until I had a grand mal seizure. it took close to 2 years before the EEG showed abnormalities. But then I was having seizures, So dr Thompson had started medications..You posted you have had flashes of light and some dizziness both of which can be in different types of seizures. Deja vu can be auras for some but they to are seizures according to my neurologists.

Sounds like you're having typical small seizures This is why you get sensations see things that you can't account for          Your not psychic or crazy you just have epilepsy like 3+ other Americans When no physical point is found in the brain your tests will be normal because it is a from the electrical nonfunctional of your normal brains activities -A good neurologist can help you find the best way to prevent this not an online advisor
