Child Epilepsy Questions

I have begin to wonder about my Step Sister's Epilepsy. She is on Lamictal and has recently had an overdose of that. She was on 375mls a day of that plus she was on 16mls of Epilim a day but was having an overdose and felt sick, being withdrawn and shaking and looked like a heroin addict but now shes only on 100mls of Lamictal and 16 of Epilim a day, as of yesterday and there are improvements in her behavior and health already. Now I was thinking could taking medication that shes not even meant to be on give her seizures ? She started off 2 Christmases ago just having absence seizures and then as they gave her higher doses and different types of medications, they became more severe and she was having convulsions and drop turns. How do you know your having an absence seizure ? The events leading up to it, while having one and afterwards.

My 4 year old daughter has like 1 second absense seizures which don't seem to be a big problem. We are afraid taking Lamictal would make things worse and your story does not lesson our concerns. How old is your step sister?

Thank you for replying. My Step Sister is 5, 6 on April 30 next month. She hasn't had any more seizures (that I know of) of any sort while being on Topamax, which she has been on for a few weeks now. Her behavior is still a problem and Dad and My Step Sister's Mother are having a talk with the school today and I have no doubt that the school will say that they aren't able to handle her. Even before she was on medication, she would wonder around the room at kindy and not be able to concentrate and yes the medications have made her worse but there is something else like a mental illness that needs to be brought to light before she can get better.
