Autonomic seizures?

Sat, 06/18/2016 - 18:14
Hi there, I'm new here and not sure of exactly what may be happening, but here's my story so far... About 8months ago I started to develop a sporadic tremor in my left hand. A couple of months after that, I started randomly feeling an intense chill or feeling up and down my left leg only which'd result in my left leg covered in noticeable goosebumps. The entire episode might last 10-30 seconds. I have noticed that while the episode is short, they can happen many times over the course of the day and typically seem to group into 2 or 3 days at a time and then completely disappear for even weeks. My PCP sent me to a Neuro and they initially thought my symptoms (tremor, short term memory and headaches) were related to my severe autoimmune thyroiditis but they weren't convinced same was true of the chill/goosebumps thing that is limited to my left leg. Neuro just had me do a brain MRI (came back normal, no lesions) and EEG (results pending). During the EEG I did the hyperventilation thing and minute 1 was ok but minutes 2 and 3 very intense and I had extreme sensations of chills and really bad tingling in both my arms and legs. It was very uncomfortable but didn't think too much of it. Ironically,Moisant feel anything in left leg at all during the test! Same evening of tests, my left arm really started to throb and hurt quite badly from about 6pm until I went bed about 11pm. Overnight my right arm started to hurt too. The best way I can describe it is the lower arms both felt very tight and heavy, kind of like when you work out intensely and completely stiffen up and just cannot get comfortable. Upon working, both arms were very painful, my left discolored (looked like purple bruising was about to begin) so I took 4 Ibuprofen and they both eased up a lot over a couple of hours. They're a bit achey again but nothing like this morning. Am just wondering if this normal with an EEG? My SO thinks it was more an allergic reaction to the contrast but I don't think so as hours passed before this started up. Neuro called me yesterday and told me MRI was fine and no lesions, but still waiting on EEG. He stated however that because the episodes are happening with some frequency (this past Sunday and Monday was the latest), that he thought starting medication miss probably the way to go even before results, which has me a bit worried. Does this mean hat I would diagnosed with some kind of seizure disorder even if the EEG came back normal? Would my ability to drive be impacted? I live in California and these episodes have never affected my consciousness. Thanks in advance for any thoughts..!
