Newbie messing up! Help Trileptal and Lamictal

Thu, 06/12/2014 - 18:49

Feel like a dummy! Didn't know how to add to Trileptal and Lamotrigine post of mine and opened another discussion that was blank! Please excuse my mistakes. I posted and asked if anyone is taking Trileptal and Lamotrigine (Lamictal). I'm a bit overwhelmed and frustrated. I'm 21 and have been seizure-free 23 months. I was hoping to hit  2 yr seizure-free and starting weaning off meds. Now in the last month, I've had 4 grand Mal seizures. The last month I have been frustrated and stressed with my family situation and not had many good nights of sleep. My last seizure, my dr ordered the EEG and said it was cause for worry. He added 2 weeks of Xanax which I am taking and it has helped and added the Lamital, which I will get as the generic Lamotrigine. I am nervous about taking the 2 anti-convulsants together  It's been almost a week since he ordered both Xanax and the Lamictal. He did order the EEG with instructions of no sleep after midnight. Anyone? I don't know anyone else with epilepsy and feel alone.

When medications are tested

Submitted by just_joe on Tue, 2014-06-17 - 21:40
When medications are tested for a type of seizure the testing then got to other types of seizures. It doesn't stop there the drugs are tested to see other medicatins that they can work with. Each drug (medication) is created for certain kinds of seizures. IE partial seizures. tonic-clonic or absence. So after the tersting they see all the things that medications can do. I have taken up top 4 different medications all of them were AED's so 2 is nothing to me. frustrated and stressed with my family situation and not had many good nights of sleep.  Oh and if your body has changed (gained or lost weight) in the last 2 years then your dosage could have been too high or too low. As for waiting over a week you have a neurologist that has prescribes your medications and the delay should not be thought of.. By delaying you could have had a seizure since your neurologist set dosages up so you will have the amount of medication in your body to stop your seizures. As for going 2 years without a seizure that is good and you might do better th next time. You might chech this site since you had triggers set your seizures off. Look them up.  I hope this helps Joe
