Having a baby

Tue, 08/22/2017 - 13:43
i'm reaching out to see if I can receive some advice with epilepsy. My partner and I are expecting our first baby, he has seizures on a none regular basis one of which has left him with a large scar covering half of his side requiring him to have skin graphs. recently he has stared to have them more often having 2 in the last 2 months, of which he fractured his spine and another fracturing his eye socket. My main worry him being alone with the baby as these are becoming more and more unpredictable and with serious injuries which lead to a trip to hospital. He himself is now becoming more nervous about becoming a Dad and being alone with the baby in case he does have a seizure and then again on the off chance the baby has epilepsy as well (even though we know this is something we may not need to be worried about just yet, however both him and his mam have epilepsy and so does my sister, making the chances a little higher). Lack of sleep plays a large part in being a cause of a seizure and not due to light sensitivity. I have already reassured him over night feeds to help protect his health as well as caring for a newborn. Reaching out to hear from Dads who have epilepsy and their partners to help reassure my partner to show him we can do this together, as well give me the confidence to leave him alone with the baby without supervision. Thank you all! Amy
