In honor and memory of those lost to suicide in epilepsy....
Tue, 10/28/2014 - 15:20Some of you might remember me as "Kayakmom" or Mrslinkgetter from the old forums. My son is Sam and he had epilepsy, depression, and schizophrenia. He lost his battle on May 1, 2011. I do not say all of this for sympathy. I say this because I know that between 2%-32% of those with epilepsy also die via suicide.
I stated Seizethefacts.org to raise awareness of suicide and epilepsy. As far as I am told through the EPTP and EFA I am the only organization that ties the two together.
One of my major goals is to form a data base of people lost to suicides in order to support the families who desire this. The SUDEP organizations have done a superior job doing this. It is time to allow the support for those dealing with suicide loss from epilepsy.
Feel free to contact me here. Start the discussion! I would love to see the banners honoring those lost at next year's National Epilepsy Walk!
