I would love to know what are the meds some of you are taking. My husband has taken Keppra and it has awful side effects on him. He is currently taking a new one...well its a old one from what the Dr. says. Your thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Keppra is the best medication

Keppra is the best medication I have ever taken in the 50+ years I have been living and dealing with epilepsy. As for other medications I have used many.  Most of the other medications can control seizures but they also slowed me down some or put me to sleep if I was not using or doing something that captured my attention.  I have always taken large dosages to control my seizures so I do know how medications can slow someone down. A question I would ask you is how long was your husband on keppra before going to another medication??? True some people get side effects. Those are generally 5-8% of the people taking it. If he was prescribed keppra and he was switched within 4-6 weeks then he didn't let his body get used to the medication. As the neurologist raises or loweres dosage levels another time period is needed for the body to adjust again. With keppra there are 92-95% of the people taking it that have no problems using it and their seizures are being controlled better. I know mine are. A seizure which lasted minutes and getting back to normal used to take 25-45 minutes now lasts a few seconds. I could have one and you wouldn't know about it unless I told you.
