Wed, 09/13/2006 - 14:39
My son is 12 yrs old he has had seizures in his sleep since he was born. He is now out of puberty and he is having severe emotional problems ( not regular teenage problems ) he is suffering from severe deppression, mood swings, his pupils become dialated he cant kope with loud sounds anymore etc..He has been on Tryleptol for 4 yrs this is the 5th Med he has been on . This medication is starting to scare me. The doctors agree that we should change the Meds.I am in the process of Changing his medication. I am hoping that somebody knows more about Tryleptol side effects ( that are not listed in usual Medical books ) Is anybody else going through this with their Epileptic teenager. A Beyond concerned mother, Halley

Hi Halley, I am on trileptal. I also think some sounds are very loud to me. I thought it was just me. But maybe it is the medication!! My other side effect I have is sometimes a bit dizzy but that is not often. I also get low sodium from that medication. And has brought on generalized seizures that I dont usually get. SO I end up drinking gatorade or eating something with salt it. I usually know the seizure is coming because an aura starts to happen quite often then I know I have to start getting some salt in my system again. take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/
