One seizure & medications

Wed, 07/08/2015 - 20:39

I was diagnosed with having seizures at the end of last year. I passed out and was unaware of what was going on also had no idea where I was. My fiance took me to hospital and they had no idea what was wrong after doing CT scan. Few days later they performed EEG and left side of brain waves were slow. Doctor said I had seizure. And should start taking meds. So I started taking keppra ended up being allergic. He put me on topamax and ever since I haven't felt like myself again. Lot's of sides effects that temporarily went away and are currently back. Now i'm seeing a new Dr. Which is going to have me start on Trileptal. Anyone have had only one or two seizures and taking medications that make them feel bad? Slow? Like you are a different person?

Yes. Medication can make you feel different. I am currently on Zonogram which is a forgetful epilepsy medication and as Amy Jo said, Topomax is as well( which is why it is called Dopamax sometimes). Other meds have given me bad mood swings and have made me feel sleepy all the time. After a seizure, I feel tired but when conscious I am usually fine.
