New to Lyrica...weight gain issues?

Mon, 07/03/2006 - 15:45
Greetings....I am new to the board and as of 3 weeks ago new to Lyrica. I have taken Lamictal for years with great success although over time it became less effective and I reached my max dose level and so my dose was lowered and I just was started on Lyrica. Needless to say I am sleeping a lot and feeling a bit dizzy. Wow, that first week was bad! But as with most of the drugs the effects seem to get better with time. I am REALLY REALLY REALLY CONCERNED about all the people I have heard in other locations who talk about all the weight they gained on Lyrica. It REALLY scares me. What have been your experiences on Lyrica? Any specific side effects? Have you had weight gain? Have you been on it and your weight has stayed the same? I want to hear both positive and negative input. Obviously in the literature it says that a VERY low percentage of people experience any weight gain. I want the real scoop. I have worked really hard with a personal trainer to lose some weight recently and wow, it scares me to think I might gain it back plus more! Thanks so much!

Hi, I have been on Lyrica for almost a year. I had found that mainly it made me tired. I hadn't found much difference in the weight though, mainly the tiredness. I can fall asleep sitting up or in the middle of doing crafts.

I have been on Lyrica for ten months now. Lyrica can cause us to be more hungrier, which it did for me. Caused me to gain about five to seven pounds. I do have to watch my food intake because of this drug. I am also tired. But I always have been tired because of all my meds. http://www.epilepsy.com/medications/b_lyrica_side.html take care Lisa http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/epilepsyapproach/

I'm New to the site, but not new to the epilepsy. No (GM)I have been on the Lyrica for about 3 weeks. I have taken Neurotin for about 15yrs. Dr. stopped it. I do feel hungry. I don't want to gain any Lbs. I just was having petie jerks and aniexty attacks. I do drive but lately I feel the small attacks. I now have a friend who coached me as I drove to her home. Any news would be great on this medication. MJ
