Lamictal XR Brand Name Vs Generic

Tue, 06/14/2016 - 12:59
Does any have any recent information or experience switching from Lamictal XR to Lamotrigine ER? Everything I could find is at least 2 years old and I know a lot can change in that period of time. I have had epilepsy for 15 years and have been on Lamitcal XR for at least 5 years (it is hard to remember because I have been on several medicines). It works for me but I recently changed insurance companies and I am looking at paying $1600/mo. until I hit the deductible vs $50/mo. I was previously on a Keppra generic and was taken off because there were too many side effects. Any information is greatly appreciated!

The generic works like the name brand does. Pharmacies are now being required to give out th generic unless otherwise written on the RX by the doctor.
