Getting over the Tired effect.

Thu, 08/10/2006 - 14:30
Somnolence is listed as a side effect of Keppra. Just wondering, does it stop after a while? I can barely get through my work day. I am so tired and it takes me forever to wake up in the morning. I literally ran into my mother in law this morning at work (she works down the hall in a different dept). She kept asking me what was wrong. Apparently I looked like I was sleep walking, since my eyes kept closing. She doesn't know about the epilepsy yet. Didn't tell her. Any suggestions?

First off tell your mother-inlaw before she starts thinking something else. I was also on Keppra and I only lasted 3weeks on itthe side affects were horrible no energy, unable to focus, and the emotions were horrible.Let your doctor know maybe they can try another med. Tell your mother-inlaw first.

I've been on Keppra for over a year, at 1500mg am / 1500mg pm, and never could get over the extreme tiredness. Last week, my epi took it to 750mg am / 1500mg pm, and added Lyrica. I will titrate up to 150mg am / 150mg pm on the Lyrica. Just reducing the Keppra has helped some with the tiredness. Get out of bed much easier in the morning, and am requiring shorter rest times in the afternoon.
