Dilantin/Phenytoin Blood Sugar

Thu, 03/02/2017 - 19:04
My husband has been seizure free for about 10yrs now. He was put on Dilantin/Phenytoin. Every year he's had a blood screen at work for health insurance. Everything has been normal except his fasting blood sugar. Today he had a physical at his own Drs and his fasting blood sugar was 240. They ordered an A1C. We really don't understand how he could be diabetic we don't live that much of an unhealthy lifestyle. We've been on a health kick since the new year. I decided to do research and found links to high blood sugar with his medication. Can anyone give me more insight on this? Who's been through it? What do we do? I'm nervous on him changing meds with the risk of him having a seizure but diabetes isn't good.
