Dilantin and SONK

Mon, 10/06/2014 - 00:57

I've been on crutches for almost one year due to weakened bones in my knees. The doctors diagnosed it as Sudden Ostenocrosis of the Knee (SONK). Although I've seen several specialists, each doctor doesn't know why I have SONK and how to cure it. I believe the Dilantin I've been taking for grand mal seizures for over 30 years is the culprit. Questions: Has anyone associated SONK with long-term Dilantin use? Is it a good idea to switch the Dilantin to Lamical? What about vitamin D and calcium use? Would love to hear how others dealt with bone health and Dilantin.
