Depakote opinions? Might switch from Lyrica.

Mon, 08/21/2017 - 02:07
Hi everyone, For the past 10-ish years I've been taking lamictal 200mg 3x a day + zonegran 400mg at night + lyrica 100mg 2x a day for intractable simple partial seizures in the left arm (sometimes left side of the face and abdomen). Most of the time I'm seizure-free, but once or twice a year I'll have a week of seizure clusters. I just saw my neuro and he suggested switching the lyrica for depakote 500mg 2x a day. I've been epileptic for around 20 years and have tried many drugs (tegratol, dilantin, topamax, keppra are what I remember) and the transition is always a nightmare. Has anyone been in a similar situation? I know everyone's experience is different, but what is your opinion of depakote? Has anyone tried both lyrica and depakote? I'm kind of scared of the prospect of switching meds again, not knowing what the outcome will be. That's why I told my neuro I wanted some time to think about it. Thanks, Erin
