Depakote ER--seizure-specific drug

Hi guys~~since I was switched from Depakote (Rapid Release or Sustained Release), I have done alot of research concerning the drug and its uses.The insert, my epi, and the Net all say the same thing basically.It is seizure-specific to 3 seizure types only and does not work on the other ones that regular Depakote does.Depakote is a broad-spectrum AED and will work for mosttypes of seizures or combos of seizures.Depakote ER only will only control Simple Absence, Complex Absence, and Complex Partial Seizures with or without secondary generalization. It is also used for the treatment in Grand Mal Epilepsy but as a second-line drug of choise after the others fail.I use i and have no problem other htan a nasty tremor, I take mine for JME and most of my jerks are a real pain, but inder some control, and the Absences are basically shut down, and have been for several years, and the majority of my seizures are Grand Mals. The epi has concluded that at least 85% of my seizures are Grand Mal.Nancy
