4 year old daughter with Lennex Gastrou

Tue, 10/10/2006 - 10:58
Hi, I am new to this group and looking for some support and answers for my little angel. She is 4 and has all seizure types :( ( since 18 months) We have been on all meds allowed and nothing has helped. Currently, we are trying Lamictal and Keppra. Does anyone out there have a little one like mine or has used these two meds together? If so, please provide some ray of hope :) Thanks Sandi

Hello Sandi, I'm so sorry to hear to hear about your daughter.  I say that because I was diagnosed around the age of 10 but I was having seizures before then and was trying to hide them from my mom because I thought that I was dying!

I have taken Lamictal and Keppra at the same time.  Lamictal gave me the rash therefore I couldn't take that anymore.  Keppra, let me tell you about Keppra.  Keppra is a wicked drug.  At first I had trouble thinking, then it got to the point to where I was a flat out idiot starring at walls in a very deep depression, yelling at people for telling me good morning, and stuff like that.  I'm 37 yrs. old and I don't know if this will help you but I do want to let everybody know about Keppra.  There are multiple postings on here about the same thing from Keppra.  Keppra finally had to add to their website and inserts that it "may" cause hallucinations.  My prayers are with you and your precious little daughter!  Good luck to the both of you!

Riley was diagnosed with infantile spasms at 7 months. She then developed secondary seizures at just over a year. My daughter is 4 now and was on Lamictal and Keppra together. The Keppra didn't work for her. She has a Vagus Nerve stimulator (since 12/05)and takes Lamictal only now and is doing great.
