Nocturnal seizures aren't unusual, Jerome. I have seizures primarily when I'm sleeping, though I have had a few complex partials in the past when awake. About 99.9% of my seizures occur when sleeping.

Hey, Jerome

As Chrissy says, nocturnal seizures are not uncommon; in fact mine are exclusively nocturnal as well.  And having seizures very sporadically like you do may not be common (I don't know) but I have certainly heard of it a lot.  It is precisely this unpredictability that even those with well spaced out seizures are put on medication, because there is always that possibility one could occur while you're awake (and you certainly don't want to be in a dangerous situation if a daytime one does happen to occur, such as while swimming, driving, hking, etc.).  And there are other medications besides Epilim and they may not make you as sleepy or sleepy at all.  I don't want to be seen as pushing medication on you, and in fact I share your desire not to be on any; just giving you "food for thought".  If you haven't been to a neurologist who specializes in seizures, you might want to see one to express your concerns to him/her, as I get the feeling you may not have seen anyone for a while.
