Managing Side Effects ?

Wed, 04/22/2015 - 09:18

I am taking 750 mgs of Keppra (I think thats what its called) and 75 mgs of zoloft, both at night. Iv been taking the Keppra for four days and zoloft for about a year and a half. I am absolutely miserable. I could sleep for days if left to my own devices not to mention I feel like I could rip someones head off I am so irratable. I have 0 motivation for anything ( which is not convenient with the nearing of finals ) and I feel so detatched from my own personality that I feel like I am going crazy. I'm getting more than adequate sleep ( about 8-10 hours a night ) and eating right so its nothing to do with that. What can I do? My neurologist said I should give it 6 weeks for the side effects to "wear off" but do I just have to be miserable for that whole time or is there something I can do? SOS

it takes 3-6 weeks for your body to get used to new medications or dosages chagnes so your neurologist gave you correct information. Once your body gets used to the medications you won't be as tired and you should have better control of your notivation Joe

Hey there-- I felt exactly the same way when I was on Keppra. I called my doctor crying after a few weeks and she told me to get off it. Done. I have never had any experience like when I was on Keppra. In my opinion, it's not worth the (possible) help to your brain to be on a drug that will essentially make you useless. <3
