Child just had Right Temporal Lobectomy/right side

Wed, 09/09/2009 - 14:17

Hello out there

My son, 7, had a right temporal lobectomy 2 weeks ago...the day after surgery he had 4 seizures in 2 hrs.  They looked the same as before (complex partial).  The doctors were very concerned that they didnt "take enough out".  since then, he has not had any.  But, he has had auras and seems to be eating non-stop.  anyone have any thoughts?

Thanks

Hello,

I don't really have advice since I am so new to epilepsy for my son as well.  However, I do have a question.  How long did your child have seizures and how many meds was he taking prior to deciding on surgery?  Just wondering for my son's left temporal lobe complex partial seizures that are very much uncontrolled and daily.

He started having them in dec08 - every day and then it went up to 3-4 times a day.  We tried 6 meds and nothing worked at all except Keppra.  That made him violent so they said it was also a failed drug for him.  we went to university of michigan and underwent testing to see if he was a candidate for surgery.  His focus was on the right temporal and they could pinpoint it through WADA/Ictal Spect/MRI's, etc.
