Child with Epilepsy and PKD

Fri, 06/26/2015 - 13:42

Hello, I am new to all this.  My 3 yr old daughter was diagnosed with a neuro disorder, paroxysmal kinesigenic dyskinesia (PKD) in December, then in January she had a partial seizure which is not normally part of her disorder. She had EEG and MRI and was diagnosed with epilepsy also.  Since then she has been taking Tegretol which treats both conditions. So thankful that this drug exists!  I'm just wondering if there is anyone out there who deals with epilepsy plus an overlapping neurological disorder?  The PKD is so rare (websites say 1 in 150,000), so I feel alone in our struggle with this.  She has only had two seizures that we are aware of and they seem well controlled by her medicine.  We struggle more with the PKD episodes than anything else. Anyone else dealing with a movement disorder like PKD?  Thanks.
