Trigger of seizure or anxiety?

Fri, 08/14/2015 - 14:56

I had a grand mal seizure and petit mal seizures as a teen. On Depakote for several years and totally seizure free. No meds in 20+ years , am 44. But sometimes I get strange feelings, and I don't know if it could be a type of seizure or nothing, or I get a weird feeling and then get anxious, which causes more bad feelings. Occasionally it will happen when I am drinking through a straw or holding a coffee, usually while I am in the car. It's like I can't swallow for a second, and I have to just sit there a couple of seconds and make myself swallow the liquid. After that I might feel kind of funny, like a hot feeling that rolls over me, and kind of pressure behind my eyes. I just feel kind of spacy. This could last 30 seconds or a few minutes like it did today. If it's seizure activity, I don't know if it's the movement of my right arm, the drinking or being in the car that triggers it. But it definitely makes me nervous. What do you think?

Triggers are things that cn

Triggers are things that cn cause sizures like stress, lack of sleep. What you posted could be simple partial seizures. If it were me I would be calling my neurologisr and explaining this episode to him. I went years without any type of seizure but had a focal seizure. So I do know what it is like and yes it can be frustrating. The neurologist may run another EEG and want you on medications again. If he prescribes Keppra fine it has become the go to medication for all kinds of seizures. It reduces th number of seizures as well as the time in them. I can have a seizure while talking to a group of people and they wouldn't know ihad one.I hope this helps Joe
