Seizures vs "Panic Attacks"

Wed, 05/04/2016 - 12:48
Hello again to all my epileptic buddies! Think a seizure is frightening? I've had all types and know how scared and angry they can make you feel.Seven years ago-just after the death of my husband of 24 yrs-I had a terrifying episode. I was unable to stand due to dizziness, got extreme nausea, my pulse began to race, my heart was thumping, my veins bulged and I could not breathe. Unlike a seizure this lasted over twenty minutes and I was rushed to a hospital I was amazed when told this was a typical "panic attack" which some people have regularly. This was 10 times as bad as even my worst seizure-at least I'd pass out then-and the duration was 20 times as long. The after effects were on my head and body were worse also. The cause of these panic attacks is unknown because they are from a psychiatric problem not a physical one like epilepsy. For me it was a one time thing but for some these occur regularly. There is not much these people can do-no meds will stop these. The only recourse is intense psychiatric sessions to even alleviate them at all. After this experience and knowing more about it I'll take my epilepsy anyday!!
