Seizure - every time I visit his parents

Wed, 01/03/2007 - 09:01
I want to start by saying that I have a good relationship with my inlaws. That said, my husband and I noticed an odd phenomenon over Christmas. After not having a seizure in almost two weeks, I had one Christmas day. We were visiting his parents and having dinner when I was hit with it. Deja vu, dizziness, confusion, staring, the whole bit. We think I had a complex partial. Apparently I just zoned right out and was fiddling with the food on my plate. I knew and remembered the overpowering deja vu. Something in the conversation grabbed me and it was like remembering a dream, like I knew what would come next, only it didn't. The noise started to go "buzzy". There was lots of conversation and noise, but I couldn't grasp even the English bits of the conversation (his parents are chinese, so conversation is 50/50 chinese and english). On the way home, we talked about it, and he noted that I have a seizure EVERY TIME we visit his parents for dinner. I am vaguely aware of the trend, but can't say for sure why. I think something in the kitchen lighting bothers me, but I am not photosensitive. Any ideas? I'm still without a neuro, since my old one gave up on me and my new one postponed my appointment until February. I'm also not on any medication, since my old neuro ordered me off all meds.

Hi Fz i have simple partial and complex partial and some of what you mentioned sounds very familiar... the confusion,, staring,,, fiddling with the food etc... One question i have for you....you mentioned that ....." the noise started to go buzzy"? I have been having this issue now for a few years and mentioned it to my neuro quite a few times to no avail... he just seems to brush it off,,, the last time i was more insistent and he told me it was allegries...sigh... Yep i dont believe him... This is the same man who told me that the tinglinging i was feeling was postasium definiceny until he actually read my MRI's and realized that i have MS and now i see the MS neuro and get a monthly B-12 shot each month... The buzzy noise seems to come on and i know i have to sit down as everything gets disoriented for a few minutes and then i am tired afterwards it is almost like trying to listen to conversation from underwater... When you hear the buzzing noise is it at the begining of all this,,, the middle or at the end?? Are you tired after? I know i probably have not been much help to you, and im asking more questions than offering any advice, sorry about that. But any insight you could give would be greatly apprecialted i thought i was the only one who was experiencing the " buzzy noise" nice to know im not alone.. sigh... grin.. Heather
