Regards to friends and acquaintances

Fri, 05/05/2006 - 23:32
I was reading a post today in regards to friends and acquaintances. It really got me thinking. With everything that I had to endure in my lifetime, due to seizures and my depression, I have found that one can not depend on their friends for support. If anything the friends that we thought of as friends (in my case anyway) usually fades away into what is now known as our past. If one is still standing with you in this day then you are very lucky indeed. But, if you are like me and find you are standing alone then we face the hard lessons in not being too trusting with whom we allow to be a part of our lives. Dealing with seizures itself takes a lot of energy out of our day, but to also throw in the disappointments we have to endure from friends we thought were our friends is worse. I have enough on my plate as it is than to add more misery. It is better, I believe, to be alone and enjoy ones life the way we see fit than to be miserable with people who may end up leaving us anyway because they "can't" handle our disabilities. Don't u guys think so?
